| schools. In addition, Africas History is
a rich source of genealogical information and is typically the first
text consulted by persons pursuing family history in Huntingdon and
Blair Counties.
Africas History was reprinted four times between 1973 and 1990,
and has now been out-of-print again for more than two years. But
demand for this important historical resource continues, as the number
of persons doing
historical research grows.
The newest reprint edition of Africas History is a faithful
reproduction of the 1883 publication, containing all the original text
and illustrations. But unlike previous reprints which contained only
surname indexes, this new edition includes newly-prepared every-name
indexes for both counties. These indexes greatly enhance the books
value to researchers by making every search easier and faster. No
longer is it necessary to look up every page listed for Smith or
Miller in order to find those that are relevant to a particular
search.
Because of the increased length of the indexes in the new edition,
the book is bound in separate Huntingdon and Blair County volumes,
with indexes conveniently placed at the end of each countys volume.
Book are bound in dark green buckram with gold lettered spines. A
gold-embossed title plate decorates the front cover of each
volume.
